Intent

At Horniman school, we believe that it is important for children to explore religion as this contributes to the children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Throughout their school journey, the children are given opportunities to gain knowledge in the six major faiths and celebrate the differences involved in each faith and belief. We respect everyone’s beliefs whether they are religious or non-religious. We encourage our children to develop their sense of belonging and identity while considering their contributions to the wider society. We enjoy celebrating major religious festivals together and ensure children are able to visit places of worship. This develops the child in a holistic manner and allows them to resonate with elements of different faiths and beliefs.
