STEM

STEM

In STEM club, we experiment and explore patterns and interesting phenomenons in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths.

Trip to the Wonderlab at the Science Museum

We enjoyed an interactive session at the Wonderlab in the Science Museum. There were lots of opportunities to interact with real scientific phenomena and play with forces on slides amongst many other fun exhibits!

Red cabbage juice

We used red cabbage juice to test out the acidity levels in a range of substances such as eggs and vinegar. There were of course some surprise reactions!

Physics challenges

Experimenting with physics through a range of games and activities such as keeping a ping pong ball afloat while lying on a horizontal surface, building card towers and balancing a fork and table spoon on a toothpick. Some children came up with their own challenges like juggling while bouncing on a space hopper!

Egg drop challenge

We had to create space capsules to safely transport our astronauts (also known as eggs) to land. It was a serious operation and sadly some astronauts did not survive the experiment. One even suffered a cranial fracture in the classroom!

FOSSILS

We created moulds of dinosaur bones using play dough and then filled the moulds with gypsum to create replica fossils. Scraping out the dried play dough was hard work but we got there.
