At Horniman, we provide a balanced provision of Religious Education to reflect our multi-cultural community and to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, social, mental and physical development of all our pupils.
Children are taught to have an understanding of all the world’s major religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism and Hinduism, and to respect other’s beliefs. We celebrate religious festivals throughout the year and invite visitors from faith communities to lead assemblies. Classes may also visit places of worship.
Religious Education is a compulsory subject but parents have the right to withdraw their children. If you wish to withdraw your child please arrange to meet with the headteacher to discuss the matter.
