Class information:

PE is taught on Mondays and Fridays  by Adam. Please ensure your PE kit is in school on these days.

Homework will be sent home on Wednesdays (to return Fridays) and Fridays (to return on Tuesdays).

Wednesday will focus on GPS and reading, Friday will have maths focus from our class work that week.

It is really important that you remember to bring your homework on the day you must hand it in so that you can review it in class and learn and correct any misconceptions. Homework that is not handed in on the day will have to be completed in your own time at school (so please try to hand it in on time!)

Homework should not take more than about 30 minutes at home. If it is taking a lot longer or you are finding it very tricky please speak to Mrs Maher so that she can help you.

Spellings are taught each week, focusing on spelling rules and patterns rather than a specific word list. They will then be tested on Mondays in a dictation. Spelling patterns will be posted each week on DB so that you can practice them at home.

Reading is so important in year 6. Children should be reading regularly independently and to an adult where possible, 3x per week to discuss what they have read and any unfamiliar vocabulary. If you would like a reading record to record this, please ask Mrs Maher.

Recommended reading lists can be found here to suit different readers- reading a wide range of genres and text types is also fantastic to support your reading comprehension and writing.

100 books to read before you leave year 6 - how many have you read and which would you like to be your next book?

As part of our work for the Shakespeare for schools festival we are performing a version of Hamlet on the 30th of October 2018 at Greenwich Theatre (get the date in the diaries). We are spending the first few weeks of term getting to know the characters and the plot, looking at the philosophy of right and wrong action, and then we will start getting our performance together.
